Wichita Fire Department (WFD) Chief Tammy Snow announces the promotion of Jose Ocadiz to Battalion Chief of the CRRD (Community Risk Reduction Division). Chief Ocadiz has been Captain in the Division since 2018 and has a total of 22 years of experience with the Wichita Fire Department.
Community Risk Reduction (CRR) is the identification and prioritization of risks, threats and hazards followed by the implementation and evaluation of strategies to lessen their impact. This includes management and oversight of Code Administration, Fire Investigation and Public Fire/Life Safety Education sections of the department.
Among his many duties, Battalion Chief Ocadiz is leading efforts for fire Prevention Week, which is held October 4 – 10. The theme this year is “Serve up Fire Safety in the Kitchen.” The Wichita Fire Department will be sharing fire safety tips all week on the City of Wichita Fire Department Facebook page, facebook.com/wichitafiredepartment.
The Wichita Fire Department serves more than 382,000 residents in the area. In addition to Wichita, the WFD provides emergency responses throughout the metropolitan area through automatic and mutual aid agreements with surrounding jurisdictions.
