Each year, the City of Wichita allocates grants funding to local arts organizations and individual artists to recognize, preserve and celebrate our community's rich arts and cultural heritage and increase quality of life.
Three different annual grant opportunities are awarded through a competitive process: Cultural Funding Grants and Developing Arts Grants are intended to support arts and cultural organizations and Artist Access Grants are intended to provide professional development support for individual artists. Applications are reviewed by Division of Arts and Cultural Services staff to ensure eligibility and compliance with guidelines before being submitted to the Cultural Funding Committee, a subcommittee of the Arts Council, for evaluation. Recommendations of the Cultural Funding Committee are presented to the Mayor and City Council for their final review and approval.
The City of Wichita strives to encourage and provide financial support to the arts and cultural organizations that demonstrate and document excellence in quality artistic and cultural programs, professional artistic and administrative staffing, financial stability and their contribution to the community at large. The objective is to provide fiduciary support to exemplary organizations, which contribute to the quality of life and add to the economic growth and vitality of our community.
Applications for the Fiscal Year 2022 funding cycle are due by 5 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2021.
