Wichita Public Library, KMUW and Wichitalks come together for an evening of presentations themed around “Home,” based on this year’s Big Read Wichita book The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. The event is Friday, April 29 at Roxy’s Downtown. Doors open at 6 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased online.
Wichitalks brings together passionate individuals and an active audience for an evening of diverse presentations that surface unique perspectives, passion projects and compelling stories that add value to Wichita.
Applications are now being accepted to present about the concept of home. Like Esperanza in The House on Mango Street – this year’s Big Read book – residents live unique experiences, come from colorful communities and have stories of personal growth that contribute to the ideas of what home means.
Ten individuals will share a five-minute presentation on the theme of home. With only 20 slides, each auto-advancing every 15 seconds, presentations are brief, fun, insightful and passionately delivered.
The deadline to apply is March 31. More information is available at kmuw.org/wichitalks.
