UPDATE: City Repairing Pipe Near Water Treatment Center

3/25/2022
Contact: City Communications |

City of Wichita Public Works and Utilities is making significant progress on repairing the 42” water main pipe located between the Hess pump station at 1601 Museum Blvd and the current water treatment facility. The stuck valve has been closed and the materials for the bypass have been located and are being delivered.

All water treatment services remain stable and service levels are normal. No customer impacts are expected under current demands.

Crews will continue to monitor the situation around the clock and the City will provide status reports on repairs as updates are available.

The City does not anticipate needing to issue a boil advisory and customers do not need to take any action at this time.

The City is sharing information about the repair due to the size and location of the pipe experiencing a leak. While no community impact is anticipated, the City wants to make the public aware of this issue out of an abundance of caution.
