The Kansas Society Daughters of the American Revolution (KSDAR) moved their collection of more than 6,000 books and genealogical/historical resources to Wichita Public Library. Its library collection was formerly housed in Dodge City.

A celebratory reception will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, October 22, at the Advanced Learning Library, 711 W. 2nd St. At the reception, guests can enjoy light refreshments and informal tours of the library.

“The KSDAR State Library collection added immediate depth to Wichita Public Library’s local history and genealogy collections, enhancing research opportunities for customers around the world,” said Sarah Kittrell, Wichita Public Library Collection Development Manager. “The collection has hundreds of rare and unique items, including family histories.”

The collection is accessible in the Research Pavilion at the Advanced Learning Library.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a women’s service organization whose members can trace their lineage to an individual who contributed to securing American independence during the Revolutionary War.
