Depending on pavement conditions, repairs will be accomplished in either two or three phases. On individual streets, the first, or preparatory phase of construction can last up to about two weeks. While intermittent traffic stoppages may be required during the initial phase of construction, streets generally remain open to traffic. The final phase (or phases) typically occurs in late summer or early fall, which can be up to several months after the initial phase is complete. During the final phase, which takes just one day to complete, streets are closed for about 8 hours.
