Interested in Coaching

Coaches are essential to the game. They teach children skills and help develop a healthy, positive attitude and teamwork. Coaching is a rewarding experience because you have the opportunity to build a child’s self-esteem, help them learn and just have a lot of fun.

If you are interested in coaching contact Mickey Lara at 316.268.4123 or mlara@wichita.gov.

Coaches must complete a background check by clicking the link below. Any coach that has already completed a background check in the last six months may provide the certificate for verification to avoid doing another background check.

COVID-19 Safety Precautions

South Lakes has 16 full-sized grass fields that will allow for proper social distancing during pre-game warm-ups and games permitting teams to space out and never use side-by-side fields.

Game times will be staggered to avoid teams and large groups from gathering. Permanent bleachers will be removed, encouraging spectators to bring their own chairs to sit in designated viewing zones.

Players will be encouraged to wear a mask when not actively playing or practicing, coaches are required to wear masks at all times during games and practices, and spectators are required to wear masks when social distancing cannot be done.

South Lakes Sports Complex

This season, South Lakes Sports Complex will host all league games, allowing spectators to watch multiple games without traveling to different fields all over the city. With a concession stand, restrooms, play areas, and open parking with over 750 spaces, this season at South Lakes will be fun for the entire family!
