This tract was operated for a number of years as "Kiwanis Park" for the benefit of needy children.

The land was donated to the Board of Park Commissioners in 1969 with the provision that it be named "Kiwanis Park.”

Land and Water Conservation Funds, provided by the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks and the National Park Service, have been used to develop this park​.
