Upcoming Open Streets ICT Events

Open Streets ICT is a FREE community-building event that closes a usually busy street to traffic and opens it for biking, walking, running, dancing, yoga, and more! All Wichitans are invited to join in the fun, and to stop at the local area businesses, restaurants, street vendors, and the major activity hubs situated along the route.

  • Sunday, April 16
    • Open Streets ICT - WSU and Shocker Neighborhood

      Sunday, April 16, 12-4pm
      17th Street from Oliver to Grove

      Join us this Spring for Open Streets ICT - WSU in Shocker Neighborhood! This FREE neighborhood community-building event will take place along 17th Street, just south of Wichita State University and will host a full day of physical activity, food trucks, music and fun!

      ​Two miles of 17th Street will be closed to traffic from Oliver to Grove and open for biking, walking, running, food, and more! There will be a route south on Yale connecting you to Fairmount Park and a route north on Volutsia connecting you to Atwater Neighborhood Resource Center where additional activities are being held. Cruise along the along the 2-mile stretch on 17th Street and stop at participating shops, businesses and food vendors along the route.

      Sunday, May 7, 12-4pm
      Broadway Ave from NoMar Market to Woodland Park

      Open Streets ICT - NoMar, a FREE neighborhood community-building event along 21st Street for a day of biking, fun physical activities, music, dancing, and much more! We will be closing one mile of 21st Street to traffic from NoMar Market at Broadway Ave. to Woodland Park, and open the street for biking, walking, running, live music and dancing, entertainment, food, art, yoga, and more. Cruise along the one mile stretch and stop at our activity hubs, participating businesses, food, and street vendors.

      Douglas Ave. from Bluff St. to N. Glenn

      Enjoy a day of biking, fun physical activities, music, dancing, and much more! All Wichitans are invited to get active and socialize at the five major activity hubs situated every mile along the four-mile stretch. Open Streets ICT brings Wichitans of all ages together for an active, fun, community building afternoon in Wichita's historic Delano District all the way down to the College Hill area.Visitors will be able to cruise along Douglas Ave.on bikes, skateboards, or walk and stop at activity hubs, shop businesses on the route, and visit food and street vendors while listening to music. Please remember no motorized vehicles of any kind are allowed. ​Hubs will be located at West Douglas, Kennedy Plaza, Naftzger Park, East High School and College Hill.​
