Response to the Community
Recent events across the country have brought to the forefront the need to rigorously review local police policies and protocols to assure we are providing equitable community public safety and law enforcement for all Wichitans. The Mayor, City Council, and WPD denounce racism in all its forms and seek to emphasize and implement fair, transparent, and unbiased policing that reflects our core principles and values. The downloadable document is a review and response to lists of policy questions received that pertain to WPD policy, procedures, and police operations.

Domestic Violence Strangulation
The Wichita Police Department recognizes non-fatal strangulation is one of the most lethal forms of domestic violence. Our mission is to support those who have been impacted by strangulation and encourage cooperative efforts with community stakeholders to educate, raise awareness, and prevent further abuse.

Integrated Care Team (ICT1)
What do you get when you put a paramedic, social worker, and police officer together? They make up the integrated health care team to more effectively address street-level mental health issues.
The WPD wants to help you get your property back! Simply save two shell casings, that have been fired from your personally owned firearm. Place the shell casings in an envelope and store your casings separate from the gun. If your gun is stolen the shell casings will help in recovering your gun.
