Private Security
New Applicants
New applicants need all of the following:
- Intent letter from private security company, including processing number.
- Drug Screen results (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoid, cocaine metabolites, opiates, or phencyclidine).
- City of Wichita fee, $50.00 (debit or credit card ONLY)
- KBI CHR FEES FUND, $47.00 (money order only)
Bring all the above documentation to the Training Center, between 8-11am or 1 - 3 pm Mon-Fri, to complete the processing. The applicant will receive a
Temporary Permit* to work private security, which is good for 90 days. When the individual has completed the required training, they will recieve a Private Security Permit that is renewed on a yearly basis.
The Temporary permit will not be issued if at some point the processing cannot be completed.
Changing Company
If changing companies, you will need to do all of the following:
- Intent letter from private security company, including processing number.
- Drug Screen results (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoid, cocaine metabolites, opiates, or phencyclidine).
Renewal Fees
- $40.00 (debit/credit or money order)
If a private security officer permit expires, additional fees and documentation may be required. Please call the office prior to arriving to make sure services are available.
Fingerprinting Services
Fingerprinting services are by appointment only. Please call (316) 660-3810 Monday - Friday to schedule an appointment.
Fees
- 2 fingerprint cards for $25.
- Each additional card after the first two $10.00.
- Money order or credit/debit cards accepted.
What You Need to Bring
- Fingerprint card(s) - we carry FBI FD-258 cards (included in fee)
- Fee
- Government proof of identification (i.e. driver's license, Kansas ID, or passport).

New Applicants
New applicants must apply in person at the Wichita-Sedgwick County Law Enforcement Training Center located at 4310 E. 19th Street Wichita, KS 67260 between the hours of 8am - 11am and 1pm - 3pm.
